Joaquin Phoenix to become rapper

Actor Joaquin Phoenix is set to embark on a music career, and his debut album is apparently to be produced by P. Diddy.

Phoenix received acclaim for his portrayal of country singer Johnny Cash in the 2005 movie ‘Walk The Line’, but his new music direction is reportedly as a rapper.

The Hollywood Reporter says that pal Casey Affleck will document the budding rapper’s career with a feature-length movie, and will shoot an upcoming show by Phoenix in Las Vegas, NV.

Joaquin Phoenix was almost to the point that, just by sticking to his story, he could have convinced the world that he really was going to try and make it as a rapper. And then some unnamed sources go and spill the beans. Entertainment Weekly quote an anonymous friend of Phoenix's, saying "He said, 'It's a put-on. I'm going to pretend to have a meltdown and change careers, and Casey is going to film it."

So this is the point where we ask, which is more fun? Joaquin Phoenix staging some kind of art piece to fool us all, or Joaquin Phoenix actually having a meltdown? Personally I'd rather go back to the good old days, when it was actually possible to believe that Phoenix was taking such a bold move. This isn't Punk'd, Joaquin! The fun part isn't when you give away that it's all a hoax!
