I'm here to carry on the varying debate, of whether pluto is still a planet.

Discuss.

Imo it still should be

It isn't in the same orbit as the other planets. There is also 3 masses bigger than pluto so if pluto was a planet, then we would have to call them planets also.

Pluto's earned it's respect over the years.

It was called a planet when we didn't have the equipment to fully see the size and the orbit it takes around the sun. Now that we do have more advanced telescopes, scientist found enough evidence to withdraw it's earlier listings as a planet.

So the years that it spent being a planet mean nothing?

It was all lies!!!

Pluto never fit the criteria of being a planet.

dwarf planet fits - Eris is a planet found thats bigger and farther than Pluto in the Kuiper belt. Sedna is like twice the distance and just as big as pluto.

And they found more than 3 other masses the size of pluto or bigger than pluto in the kuiper belt. Astrophysicists just found it easier to kick out one planet than add like 6 more planets to the text books...lazy

Lazy indeed.

I'm just saying, I've been thought to know Pluto as a planet ever since i was in school.
And know they're teaching this new generation of children to not know about pluto?
That's ****ed up man.

they still know about pluto, the name is kind of hard to miss

god of the underworld
Pluto the disney dog of some other dog..
and pluto, the first dwarf planet that switches orbit with neptune every once in a while.

I'm 25 and Pluto has been a damn planet since I was a kid, so screw criteria! Lol. I'll always see Pluto as my distant little planetoidal friend.

sure why not, but I had to learn Pluto as the 9th planet my entire school time and damn If I will let a couple new rules change that for me. Pluto still 9th in my books.

Pluto will always be a planet to me ^__^

But Linux, wasn't it Hades who was the God of the underworld?
Or am I being a silly little minion

Edit: I just figured out which underworld you ment, what with Pluto being a roman god of certain metals that lid beneath the earth.

Pluto will always be a planet in my books! So you better hope I don't become a teacher and teach your children the wrong ****.

Sure, add another six planets, go ahead.
SEE IF I MAKE ANY EFFORT TO KNOW THEM.
