I recently won a free PC game download over at Gamer's Gate (which is - they won't let me post links here yet)

I unfortunately only have a 128MB ATI HD2400 Pro video card, and it seems all of the good games such as Fallout 3, Godfather 2, Assassin's Creed, Tombraider:Underworld and so on, require cards with more power than that.

I really don't know how adequate or inadequate my card would be on those games, so would anyone care to visit that site and make a suggestions based on what would actually work with my graphics card.

The rest of my computer is fine: Q6600 Quad-Core, 3GB Memory, I have a 22" widescreen - it's all good.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure if this is an ad or your being for real. But I don't know anything about computer games maybe someone will post

Frogger. You can't lose with that one.

(Most games have the minimum specs posted, even if you have to dig a little. They aren't hard to find.)

1. if it didn't let you post any links, why did you put a url anyway?
2. you get no help from me.
3. next infraction = ban

How else would you know the options to pick from?

It's not amazon, so there are limited choices.

And no it's not an add, I won a game on a twitter contest yesterday and I have to pick one by tomorrow, but all the games i chose say that they wouldn't work with less than 256MB

how about you post some of the names of the games here?

congratulations on the win but we don't really care if you aren't willing to follow our rules.

or go to this site: Can You RUN It? (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest)

and test the games that way, not everyone has the minimum requirements for games memorized.

I don't know what your collection looks like, but you should probably try to go older in the listing. Older games (obviously) demand less power, so you can probably find something fun to play.

I googled your question, btw, and here's the link (http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26683794) I found.

I would suggest that you get a game that you want then buy a decent graphics card that is about $100 US. I know I'm probably going sell my old one for about that price. It's a Geforce 8800 GTS 640 mb. It runs most games at high settings. But since it doesn't run at highest I'm looknig for a better one.

But what if his motherboard isn't compatible? If you're running a 128mb card, aren't chances high that your motherboard may not support a faster/better card?

True true. I forgot about that! ;) Then they can find out what cards will work with their mobo and see if the ones that work are good enough to run a newer game.

Ya--atm, my mobo is the current chokepoint for my PC/Mac gaming. That's part of the reason I am migrating to the console. ;-)

But if you know the speed of your components, most games list the minimum spec requirements right next to the game. Even if they don't, you can usually find the game's homepage and look there.

I'd play conservatively with your card speeds and all that until you can get an upgrade, but that's just me. I hate playing a game that feels I'm slogging through the encounters.

Yeah, I'm not going to upgrade my video card, cause I am not a gamer. Honestly, if I hadn't won this free game, I probably never would have installed one on this PC other than Mafia which I already owned.

Yeah. The three it looks like are available and might work on my current machine are Neverwinter Nights 2, The Godfather and possibly Kane & Lynch, although I can't find any concrete information on that. It seems that my video card might be supported.

Do any of you have experience with these three games?

I've played NWN1, but not 2. :(

NWN has a "pre-WoW" feeling to it--small 3-D maps accessible via portals leading to other maps, limited interactivity with items, heavy reliance on the lore from the paper game. Crap graphics, however, even for the time. NWN2 has probably made advances on all of these fronts: larger maps, better graphics, more items, better interactivity, more characters to use as backup. The NWN games have real-time combat that you can pause--not turn-based like other games put out around then--and you can pick a partner to play with from a limited array of stock characters. Your main toon was rolled and geared according to the class you pick and the stats you want, but you can hire mercenaries with their own quests as party members. If 2 is like 1, then you can probably assemble a party using characters that you advance in the first game.

If you like RPGs and have experience with any of the paper games, you would probably like NWN2. If you like the Diablo series, then you might like this one, but it's less combat-based and more interested in advancing the story.

Personally, I did not like NWN2. Mostly because the game glitched on me and well... Stopped doing what I wanted it to do.
