Remember those says (for you people who grew up in the 80's early 90's) when you used to go to the arcades in malls or other convienent stores to play video games? I remember waiting in line with a bunch people to wait till I got a turn on Street Fighter 2 granted I had to ask my parents for a dollar so I could get quarters to play lol. Sigh...those days are long gone now.

Well I came of age when arcade started there decline but it still sucked to see the arcades dwindle like they did. In like a 100 mile radius of where I used to live and where I now live there is now only 2 really small arcades, just crazy. I'd like for arcades to make a come back.

Think they won't anymore due to the internet cause now everyone is connected at home at you don't have to travel down the street or across town to play against other people. Everything is at the comfort of your home.

Yup+ in the long run it's cheaper at home. I'd love if they came out with nex-gen graphics arcade racers/shooters and other tech games. Like i was at Dubois Mall and they had a game where you were a cop and had to kill criminals and had to use a cover system and dodging bullets by putting your feet on 2 pressures pads and leaning your body, twas fun. A nex gen Daytona USA would rule

Pft. Arcades were a massive waste of money for me. Feeding quarters to a giant box that would just stand there and MOCK ME. (Especially freakin Rygar. And I loved that game fiercely. Still do. Chain shield pwnage ftw.)
The good old days for me were winter nights playing Zelda or Super Mario Bros. on NES, listening to the B52s. I used to dance the Princess around in midair on the snow level in SMB2 to Trism and Work That Skirt.
I do have fond memories of stomping ass in the arcade as Scorpion, Raiden, or Sonya, and marveling that the figures on the screen looked SO REAL!!!! :eek1: Ah...memories.

Haha Yea i remember getting all tripped out to the finishing moves in Mortal Kombat cause I think that was the first violent game they put out in the arcades. Sub Zero had the best finishing move. As for the new generation arcades I know what game your talking about jakncoke forgot what it was called. Don't forget dance revolution lol

Omg--remember how the parents HOWLED because there was blood in MK? :twitcy:
omg!! My kid's going to see this bloody video game and think it's okay to SPEAR PEOPLE IN THE CHEST.
Of course, this around the same time that the parents were all up in arms about D&D turning people into baby-eating Satanists...

It was lame. And didn't they have a code that would unlock that? I was so busy learning that spearing people in the chest was fun (and modifying the pencils in my Star Brite pencil case so that I could do it in math class) that I didn't really pay attention.
And zomg Zelda. The original.
Best.
Game.

I don't go to Arcades, and never will. I'd rather stay home on my 19" Flat Screen monitor and playing games on it instead of popping quarters in a giant box just to play games.

SWAT! I LOVE that game. They have it at Dave and Busters and every time, I play it for like an hour. Lol. I'm a crack-shot so I love the bobbing and weaving to pwn baddies!

Oh, daymn girl. Be careful - you're dating yourself with all that Rygar talk. ;) XD
And I'll have you guys know - I pay a regular visit monthly to PowerPlay, our big-ass arcade here in KC and rock out with like 20 bucks.
Bumper Cars.
Laser Tag.
Bowling.
All-U-Cna-EET Buffet.
And Arcade games out the Hoo Hoo.
I played and beat Time Crisis 4 with less than 10 bucks. Lol. And a half hour.

ZOMG LASER TAG
Running around in the dark, climbing on things, hiding behind stuff, wearing gear that looks pretty stupid but makes you feel like Boba Fett, shooting at people with light. Win win win. :D ZOMG I'm having flashbacks from the cartoon!!!:laugh::laugh:
And I keep telling you whippersnappers, I'm VINTAGE. ;-) I played Rygar five miles uphill both ways in the snow. You young'uns can't tell me nuthin!
Okay...actually, I played it a lot for about 20 minutes at a stretch and then ran out of money. >.> But I was ten, and this was during the golden age of the Atari.

I don't think arcades are quite done yet. At least not in the area I live in.
I still frequently go to the arcades to play the following and they are always making the arcades money:
Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Freaks, Drummania, ParaParaParadise, Initial D, Mario Kart, TIme Crisis...tetris...lol
Where I grew up there was 2 heavily used arcades that have since went under. The only thing even close to an arcade where I live now is one of those in mall arcades that are just teeny rooms with those stupid games you play to win tickets to buy a bouncy ball and a can of silly string. God Bless Dave & Busters tho. I've only ever been to one when vacationing in Maryland to visit our vintage forum member. I got drunk pretty fast so I didn't get to enjoy the games but it's the thought that counts. And as I recall thats the same night I almost burnt down my hotel room because I forgot Wendy's wraps there burgers in that thin piece of aluminum and I tried to reheat one in the microwave.....
DON'T TRY THAT AT HOME!!!!
