So this is going to be a list of bands and the style of music they are so people can, say...
"I like Rock."
And go to the Rock Sections
And find a band they've never heard of, and they might find some new music!

Anyone can post some bands and their style of music, and I'll update it. Let's see how many bands we can get on here!

So, I'll start it with some bands off the top of my head.

doom? like doom metal?

or is it that weird gothic like electronic music.

LemonRising
08-17-2009, 01:31 PM
Let me wiki that for you.

Doom metal is a form of heavy metal music that typically uses very slow tempos, low-tuned guitars and a much 'thicker' or 'heavier' sound than other metal genres. Both the music and the lyrics intend to evoke a sense of despair, dread, and impending doom.[1]

The genre is strongly influenced by the early work of Black Sabbath,[1] who formed a prototype for doom metal with songs such as "Black Sabbath" and "Into the Void". During the first half of the 1980s,[1] a number of bands from England (Pagan Altar, Witchfinder General) and the United States (Pentagram, Saint Vitus, Trouble) defined doom metal as a distinct genre.

says the person who listed system of a down as thrash metal.

so, change what's currently "heavy metal" into thrash metal, and add Exodus, Venom, Death Angel, and Anthrax. Now, put bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden under heavy metal.

under "death metal" add Death and Morbid Angel

neither of those bands are thrash...system is nu-metal/hard rock. guns n roses started as hair metal but now they're more hard rock, but you could still call them metal.

i don't know 3 inches of blood but after listening to a sample they sound pretty heavy metal/power metal

I still have not figured out the difference between heavy or thrash. All I know is I like the bands. LOL.

thrash metal is really aggressive and fast. Heavy metal is just regular metal. basically, if you want to know what thrash metal sounds like, look up the song "hit the lights" by metallica.

i was talking about when guns N' roses started, you cant say they are just metal or hard rock since they kinda go into to catagorys, the same goes for S.O.A.D., just do a google search of them and they will come up in the genre of heavy metal.

System of a Down (sometimes simply referred to as SOAD or SoaD) is an Armenian-American rock band from Glendale, California, formed in 1994.

i don't really care though, soad aren't all that great. but use your common sense. listen to them, what do they sound like? aerials and toxicity both sound like hard rock songs with a clear metal influence. all of their stuff from hypnotize and mesmerize sounds like hard rock.

but like i said, soad isn't worth arguing over.
