Making Vista faster

I'm stuck on a Computer with vista that only has 1gb RAM for a week or two.
I was wondering if there was anyway to make it faster maybe disabling effects Features? I already set the Visuals to windows basic. that helped some.

one of my laptops have vista but I barely use it for anything

you should try to run msconfig and see if you can shut off certain programs. you could also have a look at this article: How to Make Vista Run Faster (http://www.techsupportalert.com/make-vista-run-faster.htm)

that guy seems to know more about vista than I do (I'm still an XP guy, I only have one computer with Vista, most are XP and Linux OS)

Yes there is. Clear any viruses, using Ad-Aware 6 or later and use C-Cleaner. This will clear all your registery files which will improve on your pc's performance.

When installing C-Cleaner, make sure you check the box 'Open program on recycle bin'. And uncheck the rest of the boxes. Then on recycle bin, right click and open C-Cleaner.

Search these 2 programs on google. :) hope this helps.

I switched may OS from vista to win7... you may try too... it's lightest so could be run faster
