looks pretty cool.

I wanted to buy either a 360 or ps3 (since last christmas) but either money or time got in my way - right now I don't want either although this makes it tempting - I may get the ps3 in the far future just to add on to my PS collection - that's the only ps system I don't have.

Considering the new model is called 2000, I could see them doing it like the PSP and releasing a 3000. I mean this reduced the weight by like 36%, size 32% and reduced power consumption in the 30 percent range, I totally can see them releasing a version that's 15% smaller in those 3 areas or so in 2 years or so at like 199

This is true, what is also true that they have stopped making phats long ago and when the last phat sells in a store it'll be longer available

I think it looks really ugly lol. Kind of reminds me of the Sega Genesis. It just looks like one of the older consoles. There are no cute chrome parts on it or anything.

But it really wouldn't matter to me what it looks like, as long as it runs fine.

I think the matte is a good idea because l the phats attract dust and finger prints like no other.

O really, i thought where the eject and startup buttons were was chrome, guess not, i wish they would of made it more customizable, with like different faceplates and stuff.

ya, i never really cared to install linux on my PS3, ill just stick to my laptop for internet browsing, and ill leave the gaming to my PS3

Not only do I not know how to use Linux, but I heard from people that do that PS3 isn't all that good for Linux. The only times I used PS3 as a internet browser was when the computer was being used by someone else and I wanted to get online right quick

nah, i doult it, i watched theyre video on youtube and they said it, and now its all over the web, im positive the prices on both will be $299, i have had my PS3 since i think like 28 days after the release of it, and it broke like 5 mouths ago, so i was waiting for the price to drop.

Phats are most definitely 299, but they are going fast. more and more I read stores running out, it won't be long till it's Slim only.

Personally not to keen on the ps3 slim. It reminds me of a toilet seat :s
Also, won't there be a higher chance of over-heating? or is that gubbage?
Happy with my proper ps3, the midget one would be more likely to break if i accidentaly kick it again.

It's in my room for the first time ever (i just got a proper tv) and i completely forgot and went to go grab something from behind the bed. In doing so, i walked into the ps3 and eh, knocked it over. Very happy it's not hurt in any way.

lol, you have to buy a "thingy" that plugs into the back so your ethernet cable can connect to it, or if you have the PS2 slim just plug up the ethernet cable, idk i never played online with PS2

I got a slim last week. In screenshots and videos i didn't like it but actually prefer it to the older model now i've had my hands on it. Really prefer the power and eject button on it.

Tbh, the buttons on the console don't really matter to me. What matters is how fast it is, how much memory and all that shizz. And from what i've heard, the original is the same, if not better, in the things that count.

the original comes in different GB the slim only comes in 120 GB, and all console have a problem with overheating i believe.

The slim uses a lot less power and loads things quicker from the comparisons i've seen. It defo runs quieter so i'd be willing to bet it doesn't get as hot too.

everyone must have some screwed up PS3s cause mine never makes a sound, poeple have alot of problems with their PS3s and i have never had any problems with mine. wtf?
