I've going to be/have been really busy for a while for a few reasons I wanted to share.
1st-Marching Band
Today (yes, Halloween) is regionals. So far this year, we've done exceptionally well. In order to qualify for semi-finals, which would break school record, we have to be in the top 8 bands. Judging by past scores, we're in 9th by .05 points... yeah, we've practiced a lot to hopefully improve it.
2nd-In my advanced math class, I have the highest grade; I'm a sophomore in there with juniors. As a result, I'm tutoring a friend after school when there isn't band. I have over a perfect grade while most people made between 8 and 60% on their last couple of tests. :/
3rd-I'm going to apply for a program called Roger's Scholars, Basically, it is time consuming as I have to write essays, get reference letters, and so on. If I get in (which may be hard because I don't have much community service to offer), and I score high enough on my ACT, I'll get a full college scholarship.
4th-Speaking of the ACT, I'm taking it in December for another reason. I need to score a 24 in math to qualify for Gatton Academy... perhaps the most important of all of this. My math teacher recommended it to me. I'll have to go through a lot of essays, letters, interviews, and such just for a shot at it. But if chosen, I'll be spending my junior and senior years of high school at Western Kentucky University. So it's 2 years of free college completed before I even finish high school. I won't be able to continue with band or see my friends or co-op, but it will be a great head start on becoming a veterinarian.

1. Congrats on your second thing - I miss math, my major doesn't require too much of it but great job on the perfect scores :)

2. Good luck with the scholarship, I remember when I had to apply for them, so I can tell you that the time spent is definitely worth it when you get the prize

3. Good luck with the ACT...I took my ACT during 5 degree temp with a fever - it's not too difficult if you study enough for it. And don't let it get to your head, I've known people that tried to get the highest grade (36) and ended up with a low 20 because they thought too much about it before taking the test. Same goes for the SATs.

this thread just reminded me to study for my lsats.

good luck to you with everything :) make us proud!

The band thing didn't work out as I was hoping... we were one spot away from qualifying. :( But at least I have all this other stuff to look forward to.

:( Well, at least you should have more time for studyiing.
Careful you don't try to do too much though - you'll want some time for fun.

I'd wanted to be a vet since i first learned what it was, but i suddenly decided I didn't want to be a vet anymore. Good luck with it. :)

Yeah, I don't plan on studying all the time because I'll get frustrated. Besides, I need to spend some time on the forum. :P

Lol, I'm still trying to figure out how to balance it. I need like 7 letters of recommendation for the 2 programs but I don't want to ask the same people for more than one. :eek1: I'm still trying to figure out who to ask for what.

I wanted to be a vet until ~3 months ago. And now i dunno what to do and i have to decide by january. :(

Kitty, do you have one of those time travel thingies Hermione Granger had? If not, i would suggest investing in one.
Ask the same people twice, I'd rather have 7 really good ones than 4 good ones and 3 meh ones.

That would be very useful. :P But it would take too long to make one. I suppose I could ask the same people, but I don't want to overload them. For example, I know that one of my choices would write two, but she's going through a divorse right now and I don't want to as too much of her. :/
