Most games we play these days tend to have violence in some way in them. You always have to shoot that guy or attack that beast. Can games have no violence anymore? More importantly will the public buy a game like that? Flower by thatgamecompany is just such a game.

Flower is a downloadable game from the Playstation Store. It costs only $9.99 and is very much worth this low price. In the game you play as the wind and you fly through a beautiful world collecting flower peddles as you fly over each flower. This game is amazingly simple but there in lies the fun of it. The controls are an example of motion control done right. You just press one button and then tilt your SIXAXIS controller and the wind will pitch in direction you tilted. There is no time limit or hit points so my advice is to not take it to seriously. If you miss a flower you can always loop back and get it. The music of the game really adds to the relaxing feel of the game play. The credits are interactive as well and I found them to be an amazing addition to the game.
Flower is one of the most relaxing games I have ever played. Its whimsical and doesn’t take its self too seriously. It is very nice to come across a game that is so enjoyable and different from most games out there. The controls work very well and anyone can pick up a controller and play. The music and sounds of the game fit perfectly with the premise and add to the overall relaxing feel of the game. This game is on my top 5 of 2009 and I highly recommend it for anyone who is ready for a break from all the shooting and violence of most games.
The Good
Perfect use of motion control
Relaxing
Different from most games on the market
Its only $9.99
The Bad
Only about one hour long
Only on the PS3
Score: 8.5/10
