I was talking to my brother a few days ago when I think I noticed some kind of glitch in the English language. It may not be, but it just didn't sound right. You know how whenever you say a word that starts with a vowel you say an not a; well try saying this:
a unicorn
an unicorn
a unicorn
an unicorn
:DDoes that sound right to you?

sounds better without the N. I see, how odd. I didn't know that was a rule, I just did it anyway if it sounded right. o.o

Wow, that's a very good point... Then again I don't think when the English language was made we ever thought of having a word/name like Unicorn as the unicorn is a mythical creature made using English, not made during the main creation of the English language.
It may sounds wrong, but it is actually right. Just the way it is

Hmm.. I don't really see it as a glitch myself. I think more of it as an exception. Just like in all other languages, there are exceptions to rules, etc...
There's the word "hour" too. It doesn't start with a vowel so you're supposed to say "a hour" but "an hour" sounds better :D

verbally "an hour" sounds right, but if you will submit a paper, "a hour" is the best but you can try spell check on MS word, it wont say either is wrong :)

Yeah it sounds awkward. I think it sounds more awkward hearing an English person say it rather than someone with a US accent.

Well, there are always exceptions to rules. I always (and I mean always) type/write it in such a way that it would sound better if it was read aloud (so no 'a hour' business).
Now I come to think of it, if it matters that much, I suppose I could've lost marks in essays for that...
