Prototype is an interesting game with an interesting twist on game play it is a game that will take you for a ride with the storyline and throughout the city either on a quest or just for fun. This is one of the most violent video games I have ever played on the 360.

Background Story: The story takes place in NYC where a virus is going rampant and you play a character by the name of Alex Mercer, who wakes up with no memory of the past but has awesome abilities. These abilities give him super strength, agility, weapons and later on in the game a suit of sweet armor. You are a human weapon with one goal; find out what the f happen.
While you are trying to figure out what is going on and trying to save the city from certain destruction you are being chased by a black ops group called Black Watch. An officer was given orders to find and contain Alex, You, and try to end this mess. As the story progress you find out that this virus was used on a city for testing by in the late 60s and that the whole town was infected and only one person survived, a girl by the name of Elizabeth Greene.
Alex makes it a mission to release her and figure out what happened, which was a bad idea. She runs rampant in the streets of New York, and you are the only one who can stop her. While trying to stop her from killing everyone you soon discover your own past, and what happened... It’s not pretty.

Game-play: The game was given a sandbox style video game, which means you can free roam for hours upon hours doing nothing but pissing off Black watch and fighting random mutants that were created by the virus, they like to crawl out of holes. You get so many different weapons to use, claws, a big sword like thing, fist made out of some type of very, very hard material, a suit of armor, and a whip. When you first start the game you get all these weapons because they threw you into the future where the virus has taken complete control of the city, after that you start over and have nothing. Like many other games, Batman Arkham Asylum, Ghost Busters, you get to upgrade your abilities; you get more attacks with your different weapons. You can up power to your attacks, which you have to do for every ability, also you can extend your ability able to glide longer, jump higher. It’s awesome on how much you can upgrade. You can buy abilities later on in the game after you attain the proper ability that deals heavy damage and is good for crowd control and on bosses if you can pull them off.
Another interesting concept thrown into the game is that there are areas controlled by the mutant virus and areas controlled by the humans. You can have a direct or indirect impact on this, by helping the humans by killing the hives, or by killing command centers and helping the mutants. It’s cool to be able to slow down the spread of the virus. The health system is very cool as well, instead of every other game where you just get health packs; you consume people, human or mutant, to regain health.
The bosses are a little hard even on normal. There are several "bosses" You have super soldiers designed to take out Alex, Hydras, weird little things that come out of the ground in pairs they like to throw crap at you! Lead hunters which are pretty smart and kind of hard to kill at the start because you are lacking in the power weapon department, Super Hunters, which are pretty much the birth spawn from Elizabeth Greene, the specialist who is a BAMF soldier who has a interesting course in game play, and lastly "Mother" aka Elizabeth Greene. To be honest the only real bosses are the Super Hunters, and Elizabeth Greene.
Online Play: Just leader boards, which is annoying if this had some multi player it could have turned out very well and would have been more entertaining to me and most likely a lot of other players.
Graphics: I think the graphics are perfect, you get to see alot of nice gore and features on creatures such as the hunters and super hunters. It is a neat sight when you consume someone for health. It’s worth a watch a few times. The cut scenes are beautiful, they are creepy, sometimes gory but they are just perfect and awesome, the Elizabeth Greene cut scene is awesome.

Final Thoughts: This game is very good and I enjoyed playing it, but it’s one of those games where it could have been more fun with another person to play with online instead of having leader boards. I like how you are the weapon instead of using weapons. How you can morph your body into 4 different weapons and use them against your enemies, it never gets old of high-jacking a heli from Black Watch and flying around jumping out doing the biggest belly flop and not dying from it lol.
Overall this game was fun and the storyline is good, but the bosses will annoy you since they are hard even on easier settings and how long it takes to kill them. There is more to do after the main storyline is over which going out collecting items through the whole city, but this can become very tiring and annoying since if you have already collected items you will be confused on what you have and have not collected.
4/5 - rent.
