A Virginia man faces charges of misdemeanor animal cruelty and disorderly conduct after allegedly hurling his girlfriend's kitten against the wall after it disconnected the video game he was playing.

Staunton, Virginia authorities were called to the apartment of 21-year-old Bruce Jamar Walston by his girlfriend around 9pm last night. The woman called 911 after Walston, angered that the video game he was playing was disconnected by his girlfriend's new kitten, allegedly picked up the animal and threw it against the wall, killing it.

According to authorities, the incident occurred in front of the woman's children.

Walston is being held without bond at the Middle River Regional Jail in Verona. Prior to this incident he was out on bond in relation to a January breaking and entering charge.

I've been mad before but never that mad, too bad they couldn't make some charges up for causing the kids trauma

Pfft, that's crazy. I've had animals step on the reset button before I could save, but I would never get that angry.

that's terrible...some people take games too seriously and this guy is most likely going to jail for a while. Not too long...but a better punishment would be to ban him from any gaming for the next couple years.

I also wonder what game was so important to him that he had to go all the hulk on the kitty

I really hope so. But a lot of people get off pretty lightly for animal cruelty cases, unfortunately.

Wow this is just wrong and disturbing to read. However, my cat likes to snoop around that general area while i game, and the dog likes to go into the hole in the wall, that goes to a secret room under the stair where to cats litter box is to eat her poop. So i Play is pennies near me and throw them at em to scare them off. Never to hard to hurt them. But its very very effective

i get pretty pissed if stuff like that happens but at most i'd take the cat and toss it onto a couch or something. maybe hit it with a pillow.

i can't help but lololol at the title of the thread though

I don't think I could get angry at the cat at all, it would be entirely my fault for not watching what was going on around me if a pet unplugged a game. Responsible owners shouldn't even let cats near wires its just unsafe. Besides hurting the animal chewed wires could start a fire and be dangerous to everyone in the house or even apartment complex.

Eps, not to judge or anything but I don't think you should take your anger out on an animal even a little bit, even if you aren't even that mad, if your reflex is to punish an animal while your are upset that slowly leads to the reaction this man had.

His anger and lack of self control lead to the reflex of killing a kitten.

I think that's absolutely shocking, kittens are cute as a natural defense against this kind of abuse, it goes against your natural instincts even to harm them. Something unnatural and cruel like that is my exact definition of disgusting, and wrong. So this ranks pretty high up on the list of things that bother me.

But the worst part by far is that this woman's children where present. That was basically traumatizing, having the animal killed that they probably helped pick out, and named, and as children probably already accepted as a new member of the family. I hope the case is treated as a lot more sever under the circumstances, and the fact that he was on parole gets my hopes up.

Going to jail for awhile for Animal Cruelty? Since when did PETA run our government? The most you get is a fine. Especially if it was killed upon impact.

Lol well starving is a form of torture and 70 is a lot more then 1... So you can see if you divide it down to killing your cat it's probably a 150 dollar fine, maybe more cus of bad press.

In the united states laws regarding putting animals down are decided on a state level, but in most stats it illegal unless done HUMANLY. That's the key factor. How sever the punishment is varies by state.

But more importantly the guy was out on parole, and it was an incident where the police had to be called. That alone means he will be spending time in jail. His hearing in front of a judge to determine just how much time will be added is up in the air, but the impact on his (probably former) girlfriends kids means it probably wont be a slap on the wrist.

I don't know about every state, but kittens, or cats, are not seen as important as dogs. I will give you a for instance. In NY State, one is required to pull over if he or she runs down a dog. One is not required to pull over if he or she runs down a cat. This is not to say that cats are worthless. Of course not. They are animals, and mistreating an animal is criminal. As I am not a lawyer, I would not know what exactly when down when prosecutors charged the guy for killing the cat. Not always, though, do prosecutors charge people at the highest degree.

It was a terrible thing this guy did to throw a cat into a wall for doing something as little as turning off a game. I actually find that kind of adorable. The guy could have made that into a Youtube video. It may have gone viral. Who knows. It is also sad that children had to see their cat die. The woman should consider filing a law suit and be compensated for the death of her cat. In addition, she should destory something valuable to his and dump his sorry ass.

I know... my rabbit has chewed on walls, shoes, bitten through our router's power cable, bitten through several ethernet cables, and it's more of just "oh not again"

It's his natural instinct to chew things, especially cables and stuff that look like roots or whatever, so it's more of just like "oh I failed at keeping him out of this room"

Keep your animals away from your gaming if it's that important to you, geez >_>

idk man, throwing a pillow at a couch a few times usually gets my anger out. its just the need to throw something. i'm not saying its the best thing to do, but this is just how it happens for me.

actually, i'd probably just be like RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH CAT GTFO YOU SKDFJUHS and then like make a loud noise. yea that sounds about right

The maddest I ever got at my dog was the day he took a page clean out of my fallout strat guide........I chased him around the house with a magazine for an hour, when I caught him, I sat on him and ended up tickling him to death....now, for a while you are angry, but when you look into their little faces...how could you hurt them.
