This is coming out for the wii tomorrow
I'm super excited :D
Sin and Punishment was a rail shooter on the N64 way back when. I never played that one but it was recommended to me many times... The game's debut trailer (http://bit.ly/4I7s95) shows that the game is still on rails but you play third person and have some ability to move your character and navigate through hazards. It appears to stay close, however, to the simple rail shooter concept that if you shoot it faster than it can get you you're gonna be okay ;D
A review from Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/sinandpunishment2/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;read-review) tells us that you move and dodge with the nunchuck while predictably shooting with the wiimote. This bootleg video from E3 2009 (http://bit.ly/9s1Tr9) gives us a clear look at how the gameplay acts like something between a bullet hell shooter where you navigate the swarm of bullets thrown at you and a rail shooter where you deflect shots thrown at you by shooting them... looks simple enough.
The review also warns that there is little to no plot and the game's worth can only be measured by it's action and gameplay... much like every other action game released today -.-"
Sadly, the other greatest weakness that the gamespot review revealed was a rather weak two player mode - player 1 controls the character and player 2 doesn't appear on screen. It would be impossible to navigate the bullet hell with two people on screen, so they resolved this issue by making player two a more "invisible" person who just magically shoots everything on the screen. Player 2 doesn't get any special attacks like player 1 does, so player 2 is condemned to mind numbing back-up fire power to player 1 :\
I'm sure there's room to coordinate what you do and player 2 could really help player 1 cut a path through the bullet hell... but even then it's still just playing into player 1's game. If you got bored you could have player 2 navigate with the nunchuck while player 1 duel wielded the guns XD
I'm sure there's fun to be had in this title... anyone else planning on getting it? I might post a review of this game if I feel inclined and you guys want to read one. Lemme know if you'd like an in-depth review of this game!
