Why can't I edit on my CP?

So yeah. I get this vBulletin message when trying to change avatar or other:

MacJARedd, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

What she said. Many privileges aren't open to you until you meet the 24 hour mark and make your 10 posts.

What they all said is true. It's to help prevent spammers. I don't know why though, cuz if somebody's only intent is to drop a link then leave, why would they bother with the cp and avatars and stuff?

Posting isn't the only way to spam a link. I've seen people post URLs to unwanted sites on their profiles all over the place, including the areas that ask you to put your location, occupation, etc...

Anywhere they can post a link they'll advertise. I've seen them in sigs before...
