I've never really bought an Anti virus program you can Remove ANY virus with FREE Anti Virus and spy ware Programs, no need to pay for them if you ask me.
Such as; Malware bytes, Spybot search and destroy, Super Anti Spyware and Ad aware.

I'm with shixx but I rarely even get the free ones. If you're careful about what you do, you won't even need one. And even then it's not a 100% preventable but in that case, I've learned how to hunt down malware and worst case scenario, I temporarily install a free scanner such as the ones shixx recommended.

Norton 360 has served me VERY well in the 3 years I've had it. Not a single Bloodhound or trojan or tracking cookie has gotten through.
Nortan can be a pain sometimes though.
If you're careful, you shouldn't need one, but I would suggest Trend Micro. I haven't had much problem with it.

I found it a huge pain, plus you have to pay B |
And anytime you disabled something that huge red x would haunt your dreams

Yep, Avast is probably the one you're looking for. Free and have lots of options, such as Full-scan, Quick-scan and scan a certain file... That probably exists in other ones too, but this one has a very good design and it's very easy for you to understand how to use it.
FREE Avast Antivirus! (http://www.avast.com)

If you're asking for antivirus software then I suggest Kaspersky PURE as me are currently using it after buying the full version.
It worth it's price and reputation as one of the most expensive yet the best antivirus software out there.
