It happened. Even with a year headstart, the Xbox 360 has been eclipsed by the Nintendo Wii in sales. According to independant tracker Video Game Chartz, the Wii just passed the 360 this week. Gotta numbers fetish? Here's the breakdown:

Wii: 10.57 Million sold (3.46M Japan, 4.24M America, 2.87M Others)
Xbox 360: 10.51 Million sold (0.43 Japan, 6.75 America, 3.32 Others)
PS3: 4.32 Million sold (1.13M Japan, 1.87 America, 1.32 Others)

Yes, that same info is directly above in handy chart form. So... Japan's a big gapping hole for Microsoft, huh? Always has been!

yeah well the wii is great as its interactive and a innovative new idea its out of the ordinary thats why people like it and most people that have wii's have 360's anyway lol

It's silly how the 360 sells so bad in Japan yet is such a great console at a great price, I agree, alot of people with 360's will also have Wii's for the fact it provides a lot more entertainment for about the same price as owning a PS3, I thought a lot more PS3's were sold in Europe than that..

Ofcourse Japan will help the Wii pass all the other consoles, it's Japanese and it's cheap and small and goes in well with a lot of other stuff :P Now to start buying 360's to put the Wii behind somehow.. lol

No.. I'm going to ask a million people to buy 360's and the rich people to buy new ones and sell their old ones on ebay ;) hell, I might buy a used core, mod it and sell it 3x it's worth to buy more 360's :D lol

This is hardly surprising, what with the Wii being cheaper, and appealing more to older as well as young gamers.

I still think that the 360 >>>> Wii though ;)

I totally agree there, Martin! There's nothing wrong with the Wii, i'm even considering one, shame they're soo expensive for what you get and most of my friends have 360s.

I was thinking of getting one too. But I think I will wait. I still don't like many of the games on it. And I don't know many people with one either.

I know quite a few people with wii's, but as far as games are concerned, I'm not sure how good they are and how many i'd actually get and how long they'd last but the 360 i have loads of ideas ^^ Actually I think there's an FF12 coming out for Wii or DS...
