Japanese developers should be more worried about the 360's success in North America. That's where the money is, for console gaming.
Of course, they can always go with the Wii, which is successful worldwide; but it's lack of capabilities will at some point, stifle their ability to create the games that they want (case in point, just look at the failure of third parties to make a single triple A game on the Wii; it's just Nintendo who's producing hits).
Citing Japan numbers is probably the only way to 'trash' the 360 these days. But you can't deny that the number of triple-A quality games and million sellers on the console is astonishing for this generation.
