New computrah.

So, as some of you may know (and I don't want to hear about Dell sucking.. we've been over this... -coughleicaandlinuxcough-, I recently got a new machine. It's a pretty sick rig for.. being a laptop. :P It can run Crysis at max (very high, 8x anti-aliasing) and.. that's about the only game I've tried on it thus far. However, I figured I'd post some pictures up here so some of you can see it.

Specs:

Alienware M17x

750GB HD (soon to have a second 1 TB HDD)
4GB DDR3 RAM (going to be upgraded to either 8 or 12GB)
1GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M
Internal Hi-Def 5.1 Surround
17.3" WideHD+ WLED screen + 19" Dell monitor
i7 Processor 2.2GHz (3.3 Turbo boost, 6mb Cache)

In addition to that, it's got an HDMI-In port, SPDIF (optical audio) In, backlit keyboard, and apparently a 3D display I haven't figured out how to turn on..

For long life, make sure there is good ventilation for the laptop when you're gaming. I ruined a toshiba by being negligent on where I played.

lol, my computer has gotten worse since I first got it. I want a desktop, but I don't have a job yet so I can afford it. This summer, i'm gonna get a job and save up money. Think i'll be able to afford building a desktop, going to warped, going to mayhem, and a car? lolol

I was gonna get a different one ( a more powerful one, with the M17x R3, I was only allowed to choose an i7) but the others would've added too much money.

Haha yeah, I plan on being on that like a hawk. My old computer running extremely hot.. when I opened it, I found out.. it was clogged with dog hair and dust. I cleaned it out, ran SpeedFan, and found it was running a good 20 degrees cooler than it had been, and I could actually hear the fan over the whirr of the machinery.

That computer was suffocating. That's a big drop. I clean my PC once every few months and every time I do, the average temp goes down 3-4 degrees and slowly works its way back up.

I have yet to install my liquid cpu cooler, now that'll probably give me a 20 degree drop on the cpu. But other than that, 20 degrees is a big change. For just a regular cleaning. Don't do the same thing to your lappy! Too pretty for overheating.

Holy ****, you don't have to worry bout Alienware. It made for gaming and media. Crysis max/full setting. Sound awesome. I will like to watch the gameplay on the pc.

I thought about getting a shiny keyboard...

Might one day get a nice keyboard but everything matches so well right now. I like the way yours looks but would start to bug me having everything glow, I dont like having a lot of distraction from games...

Especially if I want to completely immerse myself in t he dark and play a stealth game or something.

You actually can turn it off, even the lighting on the touch pad (unfortunately, that turns off the pad.) Everything except the power and media buttons.

Thats good at least. Keyboards you never know what you are going to get. I especially hated finding a power button. After shutting down my pc midway though an online match I decided to pop the power key off my keyboard. =P

I also used to use a USB keyboard with my laptop for certain games.
