I am not sure why my computer cant handle this file format, everytime i get this file it slows down my computer when i try to edit it in sony vegas pro 10 and and when i open it in windows media player it plays kinda ok but still slow. Is there anything I can do to try and fix this problem, it is a blu ray format from what i have researched and my computer doesnt have that. I thought that would be the problem but honestly im confused on what the true cause is.

We've talked about this, so I obviously can't help with the problem, but not having a bluray drive shouldn't matter, my old computer didn't have one and nothing like that happened? How old is the computer?

I know weve talked about it, but I thought coming here would give a new look on the problem.

computer is atleast 10 years old... with minor upgrades to the ram, video card and one or two things

if it plays but does so slowly, you probably just have a crappy video card, or perhaps processor, and can't decode/display video of that resolution in realtime

When I convert it to another format why is it still slow and what not?

My videocard has been out for about a year or less not really sure but my processor sucks its Intel Pen 4.

Could be a number of things. Look at how much ram is being used when viewing these types of videos. And what kind of gpu do you have?

Jokersvirus

takes up a 1mb while running the file

my gpu is a geforce 220 from nvadia

What about CPU usage?

leica

i know i couldn't watch hd video on my only 1.8ghz sempron processor
if youre on a pentium then yeah, you probably just can't decode it fast enough

missed the part where he said pentium 4.

So overall the problem is just my extremely old cpu?

What information do I need to know in order to find a proper cpu upgrade?

LiNuX

it MAY be the CPU. We won't be sure unless you can switch it out and try it with another CPU.

But if you want to upgrade, you'll need to know the socket type. But if the PC is 10+ years old, I wouldn't recommend upgrading. You'd be better off with a brand new built because all the parts in 10 year old pcs are old.

Good point linux, I do need to upgrade but the way I want to upgrade would cost me some heavy cash. Does Alienware still make awesome desktop or are they crappy since dell took them over, i forget.

Crappy since dell took over.

Dell used to be better too when they were new but now...eh...

HP is better for prebuilt imo.

I wouldn't know as far as desktops go (especially prebuilt) but I can't say I've any problems with my laptop yet. If you want to get a new computer, just get the parts yourself and do it.

only prebuilt brand i can vouch for is hp
but its still better to build your own

Well I have a possible job interview coming up but the overall problem is my setup i want will cost well over 3k

I was looking at EVGA products, motherboard, videocard, case, all that crap is is already pushing 1200 plus and its not top of the line

What parts are you looking at? I've built pretty good computers for under $1000. Quad core, 4gb ram, 1TB HDD, good gpu, etc. You may be picking out the wrong parts.

I cant find the pages I saved I think they were deleted by mistake when I went on a cleaning spree on my browser. I dont remember the names of the items I just remember the total cost of the items.

Ive been trying to see if i could remove the possibility of my CPU being the issue, wish im pretty sure it would be, but there are really no programs that are capable with an Intel p4.
