Totally failed :( was going 40km/h in a 50 zone and was going 20 in the 30 which is too slow apparently...with all the construction, kids walking around, and road damage..dumb instructor. Everything else went perfectly though! It's weird cause she passed my girlfriend who went for her test, when my girl said she was driving slower than I was.. >:( So now the list is so backed up I have to wait till...September? To try again, unless I go to the next town 45 mins out.

In BC theres a licensing program.
At 16 you get your 7L, which is written test. You MUST drive with an adult 25+ with a class 5, and can carry one passenger (Exempting immediate family) Stupid L sticker on the back of the car when you drive, too.
After 1 year minimum, you do the 7N (I failed!!). You can drive on your own, or with 1 passenger, or fill the seats as long as there's a 25+ person in passenger seat. Stupid N sticker on the back of the car for 2 years minimum while you have this.
Then 1 more road test and you get your class 5, full drivers license with 0 blood alcohol restiriction, and no mobile devices
EDIT: Hit save to early :p Thanks for the wishes Hamada, Wicked, and Linux :)

getting your license there seems like a pain.
Here you need a written exam (super easy) and take a road test. It could be done in the same week. You just have to be 18 in NY. It's 16 and 17 in other states.
Good luck in September. Hope you get a better instructor.

Real lucky! Our written is fairly easy. I like Alberta's road laws better, the 7L is the same, but you get it at 14, your 7N is for 4 months with no passenger restrictions and you can get it at 16. Wish I lived there xD

It's just bad knowing some of the people I've driven with, that are very scary drivers, who boast about passing their first run through :laugh1:

I dont like to ride with other people anymore, (honestly) because I dont wanna die any time soon. Some people who pass just shouldnt have passed : P
Man it sucked you failed man :( Well I can tell you that you might be perfectly eligible to have a drivers license!
For example, my cousin Andreas started his tests when he was 17(In Denmark you can start at 17, but cant drive till 18, but you can drink at 16 no problem...go figure...), and he passed his visual test immediately(A test in Denmark where you have to sit infront of a screen with a paper that has answers on it, and on the screen it shows a picture of a situation on the road, and you then write your answer that explains what action to take to correctly avoid confrontation or collision or law breaking etc.), and then got to his driving test.
He failed once
Twice
Thrice
Four
Five
Six
SEVEN! Times, and he tried his last time last week, and failed again, he's now 22 like I am. He had the same instructor 4/7, and the other 3/7 times were apparently his first instructors husband :-/ So you can see why he was unlucky!!!
Personally, I passed my visual test the 1st time with 0 flaws, and I passed all of my driving tests/exams/finals with only 3 incidents to speak of in the test part(normal weekly driving lessons lasting ~1hour). I had a really nice instructor, he had a very kind face, asked me a few questions, said there was no rush, to just sit back, be relaxed, and do as if it is just another lesson. He was extremely calming, extremely helpful, and very forgiving of minor mistakes. He passed me saying that I got 2/3 warnings, and the last incident was so minor he wasnt even gonna add it(that same 'incident' was one that failed my cousin on one of his attempts), so in all essense he put "Pass w/ 0 faults" on my application, and I received my drivers license 1 month later with a "certificate of excellence" or something like that, mis placed it long ago XD
So just cause you fail once bro, doesnt mean you'll fail again. I KNOW my cousin can drive, I've let him drive me in my car before, and he is perfectly natural, drives like ANY other driver, and has never even gotten close to wrecking or breaking the law, he's just an everyday driver who has failed the test 7 times due to crappy instructors who hate life and teenagers -.-
So don't give up bro, just brush that off and try again in september :) I trust you'll kick ass next time!!!

In my state, the process is like this:
- Age 15, enroll in driver education class
- After that class, you take a written exam at the MVD, and if you pass, you get a driver's permit; you need to have someone licensed 18 or older with you at all times while on this permit. You need to accumulate 100 hours of driving time (if I recall correctly) with at least 20 at night.
- After having a permit for six months, you go back to the MVD, and if you completed your hours, you take a driving test, and if you pass that, you get a provisional license, with which you can have only one non-family passenger at a time, and can not drive between 12 and 6 AM
- After having a provisional for a year, you get a regular Class D license and can do pretty much whatever you want with a vehicle "less than 26,001 lb. GVWR" except "tow > lbs. than veh except w/ class 4 equalizer hitch or 5th wheel".
I got an 85% on my written exam and 100% on the driving test. I get my unrestricted license in about three weeks. :D

Here we can start at the age of 16(but you cant take the drivers license until 18) You can apply to be able to drive with your parents. There are two courses you have to take, One that they talk about drugs alcohol and tiredness when driving. The other one is about how to avoid chrashes(and to see how it feels, like sitting in an upside car and a crash sled) and learn to drive in slippy roads.
After that and a few normal driving lessons we have the big theory test and the "driveup" If you make those you get the "B" driving license which means you can drive a car and a light trailer.

Maaaaaaaaaaan I'm looking at all your road laws and wishing I didn't live in Canada, just to get my license, and then I could move back xD
I'm just glad my girlfriend passed hers same day, so she drives me everywhere when the truck is home. Just as good as getting it myself :)
