What is your weapon of choice in your favourite shooter(s)?

Mine, without a doubt, is the sniper. There is something beautiful about one shot one kill. You have to have certain skills that some, for example, machine gunners may not possess. Also, killing someone from miles away, when they cant even see you, has something of a godlike appeal to it :D

My favourite scenario is battling another single sniper who is across the other side of battlefield. It becomes like your own personal battle while you let the cannon fodder troops fight the main battle down below.

Anyone understand what I'm saying?


I know many people hate snipers (my brother included), and i understand your point of view, but snipers rule so there :p

I tend to alternate a lot. In CS, I used to snipe a lot but when Playing gungame or something, I usually go full knife all the way.

In regular small maps, I used to like using the Deagle or USP or Glock to own. I also like assault rifles like the M4 and AK as well as SMGs like the MP5.

And in L4D(2) - I prefer the shot gun although I play a lot with snipers, smgs, and auto rifles (and tons of melee).

So I don't know how I'd answer this question. I like them all and can play with anything really. It's also situational dependent I guess. For small maps in games like CS and BF, I like SMGs and Handguns and for long maps, I prefer Snipers or Assault rifles. Zombie games...I prefer shotties.

That's a good question...I dunno what I like the best...snipers are nice, but they're not what I go running for in games.

I like the explosive crossbow a ton from Black Ops, and any kind of full-auto/burst fire assault rifle the best I think. I don't really have a set weapon though, I just shoot till I'm out of ammo, then grab the next available gun and repeat.

I love the MPL and AK74u for Black ops. MW2 I always used the Mini Uzi. I normally play Hard Core search and destroy. I normally rush every-round, so SMG is the way to go. If I don't use an SMG i normally go with a sniper, the only to gun categories I use for CoD really lol. The only FPS games i play are usually the CoD series. I haven't played another FPS game in awhile lol.

I mostly use assault rifles, mostly because they are often the most balanced weapons type. They can hit you fairly precise in long ranges and they arent useless in short ranges like the sniper. I love burst firing and kill unsuspecting people with one or two shots.

However in cod 2 I use the bolt action rifles(plus the m1 garand) cause I love them.

Psh, guns- who needs guns?! Im one of those people that runs around killing enemies with melee weapons haha Honestly, I don't even know why, I just prefer/enjoy it. Maybe it's the sense of satisfaction of sneaking the whole way up to someone and then clubbing them when they least expect it! Or maybe it's because my aim with a gun is atrocious xD However, when I choose to use a gun I prefer a rifle. Reload time always sucks, but it sure is efficient.

I love the sniper rifle, distant kills means less risk of getting clobbered. I have the game Sniper and just love it. Other than the sniper then it has to be an assualt rifle, something with a little kick.

I chose sniper. It isn't about the kill, but preparing for it. I think the stealth and preparation is the best part of planning an assassination. I am getting the new Hitman, thanks to this thread. XD

The earlier hitmans you pretty much controlled the whole mission. Stealing outfits setting traps, sniping through windows, amazing. :p

I’ve pretty much been the shotgun guy from Halo 1 to Battlefield Bad Company One, yes I know its a one shot kill and its kind of not fair but hey you do have to give up range "in Bad Company One at least" and when you give that up and see someone 50 feet away out in the open, you begin to question that decision immediately. But I was not a shotgun guy in Call of Duty, that just lame.

I actually just DLed all the ME games, but haven't tried them yet. They've made it to my list though! xD Oh, I love leaving crud loads of blood! It's just good for me because I swear, Im the least stealthiest person ev, in game and IRL lol That and impatient! I think that's why it's so much easier for me to run up and shoot someone in the face or melee them to death ^_^

Snipers "can be cool" if the game has good ones. Battlefield and Gears have relatively had a good sniper that takes skill to use. But games like Call of Duty where there is really no use for a sniper and is abused to no scopes and a one shot kills and is easy to use, is my opinion ruining multiplayer games.

I'm getting tired of people talking down to CoD.
I understand it's an opinion, but I don't like hearing on every thread:

It stills sells for 60 bucks at gamestop, obviously people like it, it angers me to see this all the time. You obviously bought CoD, and that's all they care about.
In my oppinion CoD: Black Ops was an excellent game, from the story line to the multiplayer, THE ONE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH IT IS:
Moms buy the game for the 8 year old child who just use RC cars and grenades and doesn't take into consideration he is dying every five seconds, as long as he makes atleast 1 kill per turn. Please, everyone, stop with the CoD hating.

Mine has got to be shotguns. Although I don't play many shooters I definitely have to say the shotgun is the way to go. They are often overlooked in some games, but learn your corners and cover and you'll be on your way to victory over those silly snipers.

Interesting Question...
In CS:S I'm always using a P90 (but I only play on Zombie Mod Server).
In Battlefield 2142 I'm using mostly Assault Rifle and use a heavy machine gun as supporter.
In Battlefield 2 mostly Sniper and Assault Rifles like the M4 of the Special Force.
In Zombie Games I use ALWAYS a shotgun.
In Team Fortress I use everything I need.

But because I enjoy in Zombie Games Shotgun the most, I'll pick this one^^.

XD You are my twin! I love melee weapons. Both of your points are why I enjoy bashing the crap out of people rather than shooting.

Usually in shooters I'll use any kind of rapid-fire weapon. I love machine guns for this reason. For instance, in RE I'll use submachine guns because you can just unload them into tons of enemies and you're good to go.

On the other side of things, I also really love power. For this reason I use shotguns as my second choice. They pack such an awesome punch.

Raining down terror into your enemy.
Blowing peoples heads off from afar.
Receiving other sniper bullets to the stone/dirt right next to you, watching the dust fly.
Making your enemies scatter as you take out the soldiers around them.

There's no argument for me. Sniping is the dominate strategy. 8)

It's not as easy to choose what to vote for. In Battlefield, I use either a sniper of an assault rifle. In Call of Duty, 90% of the time I use an assault rifle, although I used a lot of bolt action rifles in the WWII COD games. When it comes to slaying zombies - shotgun. In older games like Doom and Duke 3D - shotgun again. It all depends on the game. Counter Strike - assault rilfes, Team Fortress 2 - scout (shotgun) and sniper...
I'll vote for sniper. Even though I like mid to close-range combat, I like the far-range superiority of the sniper better.
