Well not meaning to shirk the rules too much muffin but I think that the main discussion has already been resolved and we all agree that the party involved in the pictures are disgusting, so the side conversating is really all that will be left to keep the thread alive. And while I agree that in a more serious thread, like question or suggestions threads, it would be inappropriate to start side conversations, a more informal thread like this would spawn interesting conversation loosely based on the main idea. The point of the forum is to be a place to meet and converse with like-minded individuals and taking away a great medium for interaction like this would subtract from the value of our forum experience.

Some off-topic posts are of course allowed. That happens - however, if it crosses a line into a complete de-rail of a thread, and it turns into a bunch of random, borderline spam posts that have nothing to do with the main topic... then it's a problem. Another issue is when people start having their own conversations in threads that drag on and end up just filling space - the place for conversations like that is not usually in a thread.

We're not usually huge on it, but it's been becoming a much bigger problem recently.

The GF Lounge is a great place for these kinds of things :)
