plot
This game allows you to choose between three(3) stereotype evil geniuses and puts you down on a remote south pacific island. You will face the forces of good and have to build a secret underground base to get your goal of world domination. It will not be easy cause the "good guys" will send everything in your way in their efforts to stop you.
Gameplay
Evil genius is a rts game and was released 2004. you start with only a few minions, your evil genius and your henchman. To progress you need to build a base. You cant control your minions(workers and so on) directly so you have to give them orders via a few menus and other special things. You can also prioritize different things, if you build two rooms you can prioritize one room so they build it before the other.
The base building in the game is fairly simple, you place for example a hallway in the mountain, a blueprint will show up, then you minions will automatically run up to the room with dynamite and blow it open, then the room is covered with plastic and they start building. When the hallway is done you can buy things to be placed in the room, then the minions will run away and bring big boxes and place it on the ground and poof you got a new thing. But you also need to plan in how to build your base, in the beginning it might seem that you got lots of room but as more the game goes on the lesser room will be availible so its good to plan in hte beginning, and make sure that the most important things like electrical generators are not easy to get to.
Now the few minions you got will not last long so you have to get more. The minion handling screen shows how many minions you want and how fast you want them. Normally you will get like one minion per minute but you can make it faster, however that will cost money. In the beginning you got a few thousand dollars. Its sufficient for the beginning but soon you must earn more.
Its here the probably most important screen show up.
The world domination screen shows a world map divided into different areas. On this screen you will do missions, send out minions to earn money or just watch a little statistics on how dangerous the world thinks you are.
Around on the map you will find things called "act of infamy" its the names on the missions you can do. Every mission may demand a certain type of minion or you cant do it.

But you cant stay on that screen forever cause you got a base to build and defend, both against tourists and spies.
As you get more minions and expand your base you will need to build places they can sleep, eat and have fun(unless you wont, cause you are evil)
Your minions are important cause without them you got nothing, every minion got a few bars showing a few important things.
If the bars hit bottom bad things might happen, if their morale fails for seeing to many bodies they might abandon your cause and try to flee, if they manage to do that they will tell the "good guys" things about your base.
There are several sorts of minions, you start with only one though(the yellow jumpuit dressed worker) these guys can do most things but arent especially good at anything, however they are the only minion that can build things.
The basic minions you can have
Valet, this guy looks like someone directly taken from a hotel, he is unarmed and sucks at fighting. But he can talk and can confuse spies so they forget their mission.
Guard, this guy is you main security minion, they are good in combat and can wear heavier firearms
technician, this guy repairs things and even if he is pretty bad at it he can research things.
Apart from the construction workers these are hte basic guys, you can improve these guys to be even better, like technicians can be scientists and so on.
There are tonnes of things you can build in your base, eveything from barracks and mess halls to libraries and laboratories, every room have its use, some rooms are also used to train minions so they can become better.
While on the world map you can sometimes do a mission that tells you to kidnap someone, when that mission is done they will move the person to your base and (if you have built it) put the person in a cage, and interrogate him/her.
This is the primary way to get a new type of minion as they interrigate the person and torturing him/her (by a rather amusing way combining michael jackson moves and cigarettes and so on) they turn into a new minion. Then you have to train new minions cause the hostage will always die( watching a guy in a yellow jumpsuit dancing and singing can have that effect)'

But the game isnt free of problems, as you can really control your minions I have seen spies walk just past a minion that only watched him, but also guys getting stuck and not doing what Ive want them to do.
Your henchman is the only person that you can control(except for your evil genius) This person is the strongest in battle and also got a few special attacs. These guys often looks hilarious, like one guy is dressed in a white costume and got a MASSIVE afro hair, he also wields a huge revolver.
One other henchman looks like a kind and a cute grandma, until she gets angry, then she takes out a massive morning star(a medieval weapon)
Your henchmen cant die from normal spies, only from superspies.
Superspies are the worst enemies you can encounter, there are several different super spies and all of them are inspired by either bond movies or other famous movies/people.
You will face many enemy agents ranging from normal thieves to saboteurs, to straight up soldiers that will try to wreak havoc. This makes it important to build lots of security things like traps(funny things like secret trapdoors with flamethrowers) and security doors.

graphics, sound AI
The graphics arent that good but I love the style of the game with all its stereotype humor and the more cartoonish style. The sounds arent that advanced, but its not all in all so important, they are atleast not directly bad. However I love the music inn the game, and the main screen just screams nostalgica to old spy movies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C0Ubkfo8m8
The AI is not extremely advanced, mostly they do what they should but I have seen several times that people just stare at eachover or build themselves into a wall so I have to erase something to let them out.
Overall
Evil genius is a rts game that put you in the seat of an evil genius. You mission is world domination but there are many forces out in the world that want to stop you.
You build up your underground base as you protect it from spies and soldiers. You cant control your minions directly but there are several other ways to control them. However sometimes it can be a little annoying not being able to control them.
Points
gameplay- 7/10 Its fun but I get annoyed that you cant control your guys directly.
graphics 7.5/10 The graphics are ok, what I love however is the style of the game.
sounds 7/10 the sounds are ok, but apart from the music its nothing you will remember(if you even remember the music)
