Gunfire at Virginia Tech University has left two people dead, reports have confirmed.
The university has said that a campus police officer was shot dead during a routine traffic stop, with the gunman's whereabouts currently unknown. A second person has also been found dead in a carpark close to the Blacksburg campus.
Virginia State Police are leading the search for the gunman. The university has been locked down with no-one being allowed in or out of the campus.
The suspect was described as "white male, grey sweat pants, grey hat with a neon green brim, maroon hoodie and backpack.
"The campus community should continue to shelter in place and visitors should not come to campus," the university said.
Further reports of gunfire at the campus are "unfounded" according to the university.
The shootings come after 32 were murdered by disaffected student Seung-Hui Cho in April 2007. Cho's massacre is the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in US history. The university was put into lockdown in August after a 'gunman' was spotted on campus in what turned out to be a false alarm.

Just heard about this on TV. Hope they find the guy soon, before they find more bodies.
