i use safes locks plenty of ecurity programs and ways to mask my location online and am planing to make hidden doors tunnels and vaults in a house one day. i just like alot of privacy and security not having to waste any focus on the mere possability of ppl violating my space at all. and its not a paranoid thing really though its just to eliminate the .01% chance of something rare happening

I'm only like that with my online stuff. I lock the house doors at night and usually have my bedroom door shut but that's as far as I go with that security lol. One day I'll have a "panic room" for the event of anything. It'll really just have a 22 in it for coyotes, I plan on living out in the country some day. So yeah that's it. I'm pretty lax, lol. Maybe a home security system or something as well, for if I go away for a couple weeks on vacation in the future.

I use to be like that with my computer, set up proxies, white listing programs before you're able to run them. I just did it because I thought it was fun, I messed around with all that stuff when I was learning to code. Kind of got bored of coding a year or two a go, never touched it since. Plus I came to the conclusion that I don't put anything important on my computer that someone would even want to steal. Only thing I'd be pissed about if I lost would be WoW account, but I have an authenticator. Steam I guess too, but they have a good customer server thing, nothing else has any value to me really. Paypal does security for me with online purchases, 100% guaranteed.

I don't really keep any thing locked up in my room or house. We live in a good neighborhood, so we don't even lock our doors, hasn't been a break in around here for over 20 years probably, at least none I've heard about. Cars are all unlocked too, no keys in them though, but doors unlocked in the house, if someone really wanted to they could get them I guess, but like I said, really no need in my neighborhood.

Well I dont do so much security things, I(we) lock the door to the outside and check that all windows are close and so on and make sure the more valuable stuff dont lie in the open, and make sure the weapons are safe.

On the computer I only have password protection and anti virus programs, I know nothing about cryptations and other stuff, but again I dont have too much valuables on my pc.

Haha Im the total opposite…. Security-wise I don’t lock my car, don’t lock my house, my windows etc… Privacy-wise, hell I walk around in my skivvies all the time with all my blinds open ….. I do have a password on my wireless router and computer. That is probably the extent of *any* security I use :P

I'm average I guess, not careless, but not anal about it. I lock up the house when I leave, use a password on my PC; Small things that only take a second, why the hell not, better safe than sorry, but I don't go out of my way to makes things secure.

so you coders do you ever write your own security programs from scratch?

one program i used to get some stuff off my pc that norton antivirus missed was malwarebytes anti malware software that's free. the free version works so well i think theres no reason to pay for the other one

also a useful free program is ccleaner it gets rid of every trace of your browsing history in 30 ways or so so nowone can spy on your tracks. i used it alot when i was growing up to look at porn and not get caught

In case of computers and Internet, I usually estimate the importance of the particular account. My master e-mail account has a 20+ letter password and so is my fb account. But other less important accounts o'mine don't matter, I don't have time to make everything that safe. I don't think that tunnels and proxies are necessary. Furthermore, sometimes proxies and tunnels have some malicious programs, browser hijacker, etc, so I don't think it's safe to use them.

lol, I was thinking the same thing mizel, only account I'm really worried about is paypal. Plus no harm can really be done with facebook, a simple post of "my fb was hacked blah blah blah" would solve anything that happened.

You are the opposite of a co-worker of mine. She is a pretty attractive female and she invited me over, so I was like YAY she likes me. It turned out she was just afraid to be home alone all night. I slept on a very uncomfortable couch. =(

A deadbolt, chain and lock make most people feel at ease. Not her, I got her some pepper spray after that.

I don't worry about security as much when I'm at home. When I go to places that have public wifi though, I tend to be on alert more lol.
