“In light of the theatrical performance of John Carter ($184 million global box office), we expect the film to generate an operating loss of approximately $200 million during our second fiscal quarter ending March 31. As a result, our current expectation is that the Studio segment will have an operating loss of between $80 and $120 million for the second quarter."

Sucks for the producers. I know they spent a lot on advertising too because I See the movie poster everywhere.

I think this movie would of had a lot more potential if it wasn't Disney doing it.... either way. qq... Disney can afford to lose that much money lol

Is it factually a bad movie? Of course you'd have to disregard the losses the film has taken to answer that question. I'm still unsure on whether or not I want to watch it.

If it had been targeted at an older audience and stuck truer to the book (it wouldn't have been made by Disney) then it would've been more of a success in my opinion. Unfortunately the movie had some plot inconsistencies, uneven plot progression and they restyled the plot for a younger audience.

Its based off of the book A Princess of Mars. Its a novel in a series of 11 novels written way back when. They are currently public domain in the United States so you can find the whole series somewhere for free
