Anyone ever attempt this? or know of someone that did. I plan on in April buying a Hauppage to record this. I'm going to attempt with PS1 games. Upload to Youtube for fun. Maybe eventually get some ad money to start paying for the games. The reason i'm doing this is I think it'd be a fun attempt. Now i just gotta think up a rotation of what to start first. I'll probably do like crash banidcoot first or something. I'll probably keep sort of log on google docs seeing as a thread on here wouldn't be too active for the discussion of me doing it.

Every game? That would be insane :P

You'll be playing a ton of ****ty games, man. On the original PS alone there are over 100 sports games.. 11 of those are NASCAR... xD

That would be totally epic, on IRC me and a few friends are having weekly play throughs of old retro games, which I thought was cool. But playing all PS1 games tops that, definitely keep a thread alive here for you to talk about it, and yeah you should definitely stream/upload some gameplay videos to YouTube, it'll be really fun.

I gotta think about what to get first. I could take suggestions :P, Was thinking Crash Bandicoot but atm the cheapest one is 18 bucks shipped. Leaning towards Driver 1 now XD

Bertrum
03-31-2012, 12:23 PM
Driver was a cool game, I really enjoyed it. Go for it!

Also if you're going to be collecting all the games you play, you must take pictures of your growing collection lol

haha okay :P, Maybe i'll take a picture of each game. I'll need to eventually come up with some sort of system, so I can find others later on if I was to replay them.

What about all the games that suck? You would have to play through those too!

Bertrum

Like David Beckham Soccer, it would cause me a lot of distress to play that lol

It would distress me if anybody else had to play that trash either :P No offence to David Beckham but it was a terrible game. Then there is Alex Fergusons player manager, which again would be just as bad lol

Are these games released in the USA? I'm likely going to just play through the USA ps1 games as I dont wanna have to buy a EU ps1 or JP ps1 and possible power converters and learning languages..ect

To be honest I don't know. Hopefully they're only released in Europe, so you don't have to face the displeasure of playing them :P

Update: Pizza Hut last check was way bigger than previously assumed. Thus times have been moved up a week. Driver and NFS: High Stakes have been ordered :D

Edit: Just checked this place that is open that buys and sells stuff, they got about 60 ps1 games in there. Bought Wild 9 today.

I have to say its a cool idea, but at 2,418 games its not a very reasonable goal. I have enough games that if I played one new game a day I would not have to play the same game twice in a year. Once you starting thinking about it that way... large numbers like that make it apparent that I just would never have the time.

Then again... I'm already pretty close to that goal for the N64.

I would appeal to you to consider another approach and try to beat every game released in a certain year. This way you have more variety in the tech and similarity inside of what you are playing. Personally I would go for 1998 myself because that was the golden age of gaming. And brings the goal down from 2,418 to 556. These are just notable releases:

January 21 – Resident Evil 2 (PS1) (1999 for Win/N64/DC, 2003 for GC)
January 29 – Panzer Dragoon Saga (Sat)
February 11 – Xenogears (PS1)
March 13 – World Cup 98 (PS1) (Apr 30 for Win, May 18 for N64)
March 19 – Descent: FreeSpace – The Great War (Win)
March 29 – Parasite Eve (PS1)
March 31 – StarCraft (Win) (2000 for N64)
April 30 – Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven (Win)
May 6 – Warhammer: Dark Omen (Win, PS1)
May 22 – Unreal (Win)
June 30 – Banjo-Kazooie (N64)
July 31 – Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines (Win)
July 31 – Heart of Darkness (PS1) (Aug 31 for Win)
August 21 – Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six (Win) (1999 for N64/PS1, 2000 for DC)
September 3 – Metal Gear Solid (PS1) (2000 for Win)
September 10 – Spyro the Dragon (PS1)
September 27 – Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit (Win) (Mar 25 for PS1)
September 30 – Fallout 2 (Win)
September 30 – Shogo: Mobile Armor Division (Win)
October 30 – Grim Fandango (Win)
October 21 – Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64)
October 31 – Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome (Win)
October 31 – SiN (Win)
October 31 – Heretic 2 (Win)
November 19 – Half-Life (Win) (2001 for PS2)
November 21 – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) (2002 for GC)
November 21 – Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft (PS1, Win)
November 30 – StarCraft: Brood War (Win)
November 30 – Thief: The Dark Project (Win)
November 30 – Baldur's Gate (Win)
December 3 – Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (Win) (Dec 7 N64)
December 12 – Falcon 4.0 (Win)
December 17 - Suikoden II (PS1)
December 23 – Sonic Adventure (DC) (2003 for GC, Win)

This is truly a worthy list of games to be played.
full list here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:1998_video_games)

Also many of these are arguable, Final Fantasy tactics came out in the USA in 1998 but is not on the list because it came out a year earlier. You can use this logic to shuffle your list of of games to fit different release dates. Doing the JAP, USA or European release dates to come up with a more favorable list.

Yeah my gf has repeatedly said im insane for making such an unrealistic goal. However I think it's not a sprint but a marathon and considering I have a good 40 years left on my life cycle. I think although it's not very realistic, I will sure have fun, anger and every emotion a human can have on my journey.

Haha, I thought of doing something like this before, never put it into action. Definitely a long goal, but possible. If you get popular and start making a decent amount of money from ads you could start getting a good amount of games coming in. Over half of them are probably under 5 dollars in price.

The Angry Video Game has a huge collection, has almost ever game for the NES except a few rares which cost over a thousand dollars a piece. NES has a smaller library though, around 900, definitely would be a fun task.

The biggest amount of money i see myself putting towards is the shipping. For instance Driver and NFS High Stakes were like 3 bucks, but after shipping cost me like 10 bucks. And that's just 2 games.

Check Goodwill. I buy a lot of games from them I collect Nes Snes Nes64 Gc Dc and Sgg games normally get them really cheap about $2.50 a piece some times a $1 . Also got a lot of Ps1 and 2 in my collection. Missing some stuff due to a house fire lost a lot of the newer stuff >:(

Stick with Gamecube, there are only about 500-600 Games on there.^^

Or Atari Jaguar.

Pro:
All games suck on it
Not so many games

Contra:
It's Atari Jaguar

Last time i went to the local goodwill, I don't recall seeing any. Maybe my memory is poor. But yeah that is definitely a good thing to keep a eye on.

I always go to a flea market to pick up old games. They normally don't have any rares, but 100 sport games and then the popular ones. They're only 2 or 3 bucks a piece though. There is actually a Sega CD there for 50 bucks, comes with a sega console too. Might buy and it and resell on ebay for a 100, has original box and everything. Flea markets are the way to go.

definitely something you should look into every town would have one I would think. Yard sales are also cheap finds. Bought my NES for 5 dollars at one, then 25 cents a game.

I need to check good will for games, had no clue they had them.

Yard sales and the flea market!

Although sometimes the flea market peeps charge wayyyyy too much. Then again, sometimes they charge basically nothing.

Good Will is always hard to get games need to go an hour or two after it opens.. A lot of collectors go there might be why you never see the games their... I've picked a lot of stuff from Good Will. I got a nes game box case holds 20 games almost half full of games. Games included was Zelda 1 and 2, Mega-Man 1, RC PRO AM, Mario 1 and 3 and Metroid. Not a bad deal at all

I remember reading like 3-4 years ago when FF7 was going for 70+ that someone found a copy at goodwill for like 9 bucks rofl

Well I just bought my Retron 4, so I'm going to be looking for NES, SNES and Gensis games, definitely going to be checking good will out for some finds now.

I'd sh*t my pants if I got a 60 dollar profit from just going to good will and buying a game for 9 bucks lol. Going to bring my phone with me check for rares :p

I wanted to do that at the pawn shop thing I was at the other day where I got the one game. But the cashier was placed right in front of the ps1 game section and I think he was actually the owner so that'd be super awkward to check game prices.
