Not sure why most found it implausible that Sony would introduce the cheaper and less featured model. They are not going to give up this early.

$200us is practically nothing, it costs $560us here for a premium. plus i thought you were a StONeY fan? if microsoft make sony fall through, microsoft are the generous type and would lend sony money, but sony has like 4 factories they can sell to toshiba still and just rent out a line or 2 for themselves.

there's good game out now and quite coming this fall.

we welcome you, just stop mentioning how great you think the ps3 is, i'm agnostic, i don't mention how great it is not having a god, i accept it, i accept you like the ps3 i just believe the 360 is better value with a lot better games. We don't all have thousands of dollars to spend on the latest things, hence why we favour the 360 which offers what we want now rather than the ps3 which is meant to offer what we want but we just don't see it.... the games don't seem as good... especially when my $400 pc plays FEAR at higher detail than my friend's $800 ps3.

I really like sony. But i dont like the ps3 too much but i prefer the 360. i am not an extremist to either of these consoles but you seem to be one of the ps3. So its kinda your fault that you are getting annoyed :/

If tehy went ahead and put a screen in the ps3 like they first planned, then maybe it would be worth the money. But i think that the price drop is was needed, coz not many people have the money to waste on such consoles, when the money can be put towards a decent pc.

Plasma sucks lol. LCD screen is teh awesome lol. But i wouldnt mind playing on a small screen. Although for high def it wouldnt be very good.

If you can't afford a Plasma then why bother with a PS3. They are overpriced. If your stuck for cash you should stick to a PS2 lol

15inch is useless for anything except watching the news at 6 while you eat dinner, i can't play a console on anything under 21inch for 2player and 17inch for pc is a minimum. a ps3 with a 15inch screen integrated would make it bigger, heavier and more expensive than buying a screen, do you know how much it costs to buy a screen used? a crt? i can buy a once top of the range 36inch Widescreen that looks absolutely amazing (trust me, I've used 4, 3 for movies 1 for gaming) for under ?100GBP which is about $200US, you just need to be able to carry 20stone which is 320lbs or 127kg, so a screen make the ps3 more worthwhile? nope.. as you can pick up a 15inch tft now used for pocket money, or a 36inch-top-of-the-range-a-few-years-ago-screen for a few weeks worth of a paper round.

Hell yeah big tv's are awesome :) but i really do need to get a console to play some games at high res on it :). My monitor on my pc is only 17" and im used to it but...42"!! i got to try it

console is cheaper has more features and oh yeah, have you actually watched HD? full HD? most haven't. and i don't care if i can see a game with more pixels than i could before, or a movie, if i want to see high resolution i'll go to a cinema, their equipment is really good and will give you better quality sound and vision than a full hdtv set with bluray and hd-dvd. also, how many hd movies do you own? do you have a hd camera? do you subscribe to sky's hd service which provides actually very few hd channels? or do you have a pc rigged up with 10mbit internet so you can stream the online 1080p channels from japan? watching sd content on a hd screen is poor, especially when the monitor has high contrast, you can almost count the pixels from your sofa they're that obvious. plus, wireless hd is coming out and fullhd sets are coming out and so are movies in fullhd, your brand new sets are almost outdated and the world will just see they can snap up a cheap set and there's loads of them on ebay already with people saying "bought this set 10months ago for ?1500 and have recently upgraded to fullhd" they're getting ?600 or less for them, for a 10month old tv, where as a 1year old xbox 360 which they paid what? ?400 for? they're still getting ?200.

Nobody buys a BIG HD TV for HD TV. We just want to see the full picture. I have a 20 inch in my room and when watching Identity (the tv program on BBC 2) I can't see all the text because my TV isn't big enough

My m8 has a wii he said when its on it gets really hot which is why he has a stand with some kind of fan hole at the bottom.

wii is most likely to overheat, it has a single 60mm fan.

content is streamed in 320x180 or 640x360 depending how much bandwidth a particular channel has, which they're both widescreen resolutions, a standard 4:3 screen will make it into 320x240 or stretch to 640x480, a cheap widescreen is the best way to go, if you want a big screen why go hdtv when normal definition still provides great quality (especially when watching normal television) anyway, back to topic.

Yeah I saw a program where they went to NY and bought a load of ***** and came back and found out if buying it over there was really cheaper.... which it was.

Bungie has left microsoft so no more halo, there's rumours of GoW coming out on ps3 and it's definitely coming out on pc november 6th. Playstation has Final Fantasy which is rumoured to be moving to 360 aswell.
The new 40gb model is a stupid thing, i don't care about the space but removing support for older playstation titles and the likes? when i buy a new console i'll generally sell or pass on my old one and i'm not rich so i'm not willing to spend loads unless i get money from selling the old stuff and i still play ps1 games so the chances of me getting a ps3 are low...

i wonder if ps3 will soon release one with no harddrive atall, or one with a huge harddrive and no bluray drive and just a dvd rom drive, then you can download all the games and it'll save a few hundred.

I think ?350 is about right to pay for a PS3, Blu ray DVD and Two top games. I'll be shocked if the PS3 comes down in price within the next year. Your losing out if you get the 40GB instead of the 60GB and the 60GB is Glossy (finger prints are cool ;-))

HD-DVD is a seperate format to normal DVD, Jasperking. the only way to make the ps3 cheaper is either to buy used, import (then you have to import all your games) or wait until Sony have put their profits in the positive. Lowering the hdd space to make the console more affordable is... a sort of smart move since aslong as you don't mind voiding the warranty on your system which right now isn't a problem since i haven't seen a ps3 fail you can upgrade the hdd, Sony should go ahead and make a ps3 with a 20gb drive but with backwards compatability so we can upgrade the drive when we want.
