View Full Version : I feel really bad...

So a private animal control contractor set up a cage outside my dad's shed and within the first few days it caught a skunk. He showed up the morning after and humanely euthanized it.

However many months later a new skunk was caught in the cage we left out (because we knew there were multiple skunks) last night. I feel bad because the bait is barely a morsel of food and he has no water.

The contractor has not responded and I find it wrong to just leave the skunk in the cage to die of thirst in the middle of the summer. We don't think he will even respond until the weekend is over and that's just too long.

I would to! Horrible person! jk. Yeah I feel ya, I would probably put it down instead of watering it and feeding it. Less emotional attachment occurs.

i think you should put some water down for it because to let any animal die of thrust is not humane but this is just my opinion

I think you should give it some food and water. I don't exactly know how to do that with a skunk since they can spray you out of the blue. Wish I could advise you better, but I have no idea how to handle a situation like this.

I'd free it and not let it die at all. And then I would take that cage that's killing them and trash it.

You don't have a gun or anything? Not sure of the laws in your town, but my family has done this multiple times to coons in our yard. They kept getting in our trash, quick painless way to go.

Orrrr get a trash can with a lid and let the poor creatures live >_<

We did have a lid on it, one that clamps down too, they chewed the lid up so it doesn't seal anymore. So now they knock the trash can over and lid pops off.

We have an identical trashcan as well, but the lid was so bad we just threw it away.

Chill guys!

The guy came and the skunk was fine, he was still moving and didn't look sickly or anything.

He took it back to their HQ and used a painless gas that made him drowsy and die in his sleep.
