There's a video over at Gametrailers that shows the booklet of the game. The booklet shows that the story is not what everyone thinks it is.....

Wow it looks like by the end of the game you're out in today's world running from armed forces.

I don't think I will like Assassin's Creed being set in a futuristic setting on the 2nd or 3rd game. I actually like this medieval setting because it clearly suits the assassin type. I'm having a feeling that, if Ubisoft creates Assassin's Creed 2 and 3 in the future, it will just be another Splinter Cell - Metal Gear Solid.

Wow, this game just got more interesting. It'd be cool if they had Altair climbing some cool modern day structures.

I dunno, that would be really weird. I liked the idea of being in 1161.

Yeah the idea of it being in 1161 is kewl. If it was todays structures it wouldnt be as kewl because well u know wat the structures look like and they look boring. So old is better :)

Rofl yeah but even the games that are in present day. They never use anything that can make themselves get to their goal faster :p
