I figured I'd start a new Speed Test thread since the last one is old and everyone probably has a new ISP and computer by now.
Here is my score..

I have a new computer but not a new ISP, I wish I did but TWC still has a monopoly in my area and I'm not allowed to upgrade over a 10 mbit connection :(
Results from today:

My highest has been just over 10mbit download and 1.2 mbit upload.
Grade...D+

They say speeds over 10mbit isn't available in my area and I called BS because if I try to order as a new customer, I can choose 25mbps. I pointed that out and was basically told that since I'm not a new customer I can't get those speeds. I don't understand their logic. It's not like I'm not gonna pay for it.
Meanwhile my friend (blackleo) lives a few miles away and he was able to upgrade to 20mbps last month without hassle, he's with TWC as well.

Your ping is really good. So there's not much of a delay between the servers. Just your download sucks. D:

Haha well I'm kindof part of the tech department and would like to keep my job soooooo. It is nice though. I download stuff so fast.
To finish what I started saying in the last post and apparently didn't.
Egg, a friend of mine has speeds as low if not lower than yours. Found that tethering the phone to the computer was actually higher and if you have unlimited data, free. Also, legal if anyone wonders.

Hop on Bell if you aren't already. You can get a 2gb plan for $60, which is about the same as other smartphone plans. I think there might be some other carriers in the east though that have better deals/more data. I don't think we can get unlimited in Canada anymore, there was a SOPA-style law that passed here last year :(

So my ISP set up servers in my neighboring town, so they boosted all our speeds for free.

Life is good, 9 ping. Paying the same price as I was for 50mb

I wonder if it's because my upload speed is so low

I think it's because the standard is getting closer 100mbps for households. I know TWC is giving out 300mbps lines now along with Verizon. And Google already had the gigabit lines.

Yeah, that could be true, I know I've been seeing signs in parkersburg of a company offering 300mbbps. Can't remember the name, some company that's not in my town.

TWC has 200/20 mbps option, I might get it since it's only $10 more. But I could use more upload speed. It makes a huge difference since I've been playing around with home servers a lot lately.

Wow nice, yeah 10 dollars more can't beat that.
It's weird how upload speeds are so much slower, any reason for that? Or do companies just want to milk money since few people upload anything anywhere.

FiOS is pretty good with giving close to a 1:1 ratio for download/upload. A friend of mine has 25/25 service and can upgrade to 50/50. I went over to her house just to test the speed, it's more around 32/27 right now which is pretty good.
I don't know all the details. But it has to do a lot with the history of what households wanted. A majority of households download a lot more than they upload so that's how the networks were designed, it was designed to provide fast downloads. And I think that's why they are limited now. Fiber Optics on the other hand is much newer and allows data transfer at nearly equal speeds in either direction because it was designed to do that. I guess the old copper wire companies never thought people would want to upload as much as they download.
I'm just guessing. I'm sure if you do Google it, you'll get a much better explanation.

All set up in CO now.

Obviously the upload is abysmal, but coming from 3 down 1 up this is internet heaven for me. And CenturyLink is just the inexpensive option, might upgrade later on.

I had 10/0.5 for years. When I had to upload something large, everything else had to stop.

Haha, yeah, it sucks for sure. But I use my phone's LTE for most of my uploads and that's more than capable.
