lol you have a long way to go but we've seen 1000+ posts get done within a month - but you'll have to make ur post rate a lot higher - good luck with it :D

yea - thats because the forum is more active and i have more to respond to :)
the first 6 months of the forum was a real desert - not until we converted to vbulletin back in july 2007 when we started the growth spurt lol

just html board? lol..that just sounds weird
we had SMF and before that it was YaBB - when we went from being a forum for my CS clan to just a regular Gaming Forum - we went from YaBB to SMF
last June - right at the end of june - there was a HUGE server crash - we lost about 5,000 posts and a 100 or so members - the forum was shut down for a full 2 weeks - i gathered the money for a vbulletin license - converted and opened the forum back up and then here we are now lol

Well I don't the older languages, you could run a terrible forum on HTML, but it would suck... really bad. It would almost be like a blog. Well now that I think about it you would need BBcodes.... I don't know what I was thinking before lol. I never even heard of SMF, so I couldn't tell you what it's written in.
I never knew anything you could run a forum on before, Maybe just MYSQL and PHP? I hope thats what vB is written in or I'm losing my mind. I never knew pearl had the potential to make forums..

YaBB is fully perl - not peArl lol - i was learning the language then went to smf which was php - vb is php as well along with mysql - yabb is one of the safest boards around - not many know perl so it isn't likely to get hacked by anyone and it doesn't use a mysql database either - so another security hole gone
there are flash boards - their public licenses cost a whole lot of money - there are also ajax and other languages - all pretty cool but out of the budget of most webmasters these days

Anyway, I was going to learn perl ( it was a typo the first time ), but decided no one uses it anymore. I know the basic's of it, but not enough to do anything with it. From a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to learn and use? So far c++ is the hardest too me. I'm still learning stuff in it, it's such a big language...

The reasons I was going to learn perl was because, it's easier to code spoofers with it "So I heard" Then I decided I knew to many and learn how to do it in c++

i use hyphens - problem? lol
i used to know perl basics too - haven't used it in years so i dont think i remember much anymore -
i learned C++ long before php, i havent worked with C++ for a while either, also worked with C, and C# which was alright, never got anywhere,
