Like everyone else, i saw the tragic california fires, this is probably the worst california fire, almost 400000 people evacuated! So, i have a very simple solution. Since most of the forest fires in california are within 100 miles of the shore, why not have a very high powered water pump shooting water from the coast and hitting those water spots? With a good parabolic arc, you can easily put those fires out, and since california is having these types of fires every year, one of these ships could be on standby year round. You engineering guys, is this fesable? I think so, i mean if we have devices military weapons that shoot heavy mortars a similar distance, why not water jets?

It could work. Water and mortars have very similar physical properties.

Shooting water even 20+ miles.
Are you serious?
Mortars are metal propelled by explosions.
Water, especially on a grand scale, doesn\'t fly well.

You sir...wow...I\'m speachless...I can\'t even find an insult to fit this...

Anyone?

Where are you going to find a hose long enough for that?
Or if you do plan on launching it from the shore, what about factors like wind and such?

Too much logistical planning.
Too little time.
Just do what they do, fill helocopters up with water and splash it on.
Cover in dirt.
Repeat.

Haha wow yeah shooting it that far would never work lol...

That's like saying lets find a big ass pool and attach it to a plane, and just dump it all on the fire.
