No doubt. We've reached the point were IMO visual design and art direction are paramount. Just look at Bioshock, Folklore, etc.

Crysis I find to be much less than inspired when it comes to art direction. Technically, it's second to none. But personally the graphics, due to the art style and design, impress me more in a game like Bioshock than do those in a more technically sound game.

he is currently doing some cool things with the crossing. hope we get to see more of it soon. interesting how they call him independant now. i didnt realize he was not still working for valve.

I love the design of Half Life 2. Sucks the 70 degrees mess made playing this game a exercise in keeping my lunch/dinner/breakfast down.
