I was saving a image with gimp, and I just couldn't seem to find the right photo type for it.
What is the best, when saving gimp images ?

.PNG is the best when you're saving an image.
It's pretty universal with any program, but try that.

.gif are pretty good quality for net and i do use it a lot but only for places that don't allow PNG or won't let me save as png
it really depends on where the picture is going - png's are the only ones that can have transparent background so it pwns

GIFs can have a transparent background too.
I used to do it all the time, it's just not as good as PNG.

For GIFs you have to press the 'optimize image' button after you go to save it.
You can then make it transparent.
It's a whole heckuva lot harder than transparent PNGs and that's why I don't use them anymore.
Lol.
Well.....
Always save an XCF of the image to edit it later.
For best quality PNG or TIFF
For least space used JPG or GIF

I've saved all of mine on GIMP with .png so far because it is pretty good. Everything always turnes out the way I want it.

On photoshop when I use transparency I always used gif.
You just take away the background, and save. That's basically how I do it?
png is a good format all around (:
