Well, I personally DON'T like the Sims, but if you're looking for a good fantasy game, I could recommend nothing better than Shadow of the Colossus for PS2. It is one of THE best games I've ever played, and the space for freedom here is enormous. There are only 16 colossus in the entire land, so why not explore it? You will find tombs and ancient temples there just for you to discover. Once you beat the game, you can fight individual colossus in Time Attack mode, and for every 2 colossus you defeat under the time limit, you get a new item to use in story mode! As for RPGs...I really love Dragon Quest VIII. It's simple but charming story, large amounts of humor, classic and addictive gameplay, and breathtaking graphics done in the cartoon style of Akira Toriyama make this one of my favorite RPG titles. But as for the simulation games...nothing good comes to mind. The games Strickin posted are very good as well, so don't forget to check those out too!

lol sorry. I get a little heavy on the words sometimes. Basically, I'm saying you should get Shadow of the Colossus for a good fantasy adventure game, and Dragon Quest VIII for a good RPG game.
EDIT: These games are for the PS2 only, but I don't own an XBox 360, so the only other game I could recommend besides what Strickin already said would be maybe CrackDown.
EDIT x2: Being an idiot again. You're not even talking to me. lol. Whatever...
