About Downtime 2/25/08

The forum was down for over 2 and a half hours just now and that is because of a little Apache upgrade. I still had access to the server via FTP but all HTTP portions of it were completely down.

I was told it would take 30 minutes to 1 hour max but I guess these guys really suck at estimating the amount of time they need to upgrade a simple server feature.

It was first supposed to be done Tomorrow Morning at 2 AM but something about they can do it much faster now came into play and my host admin agreed to it.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. But I was notified just minutes before it would go down. And I am still not sure if all the upgrades were complete.

The upgrades are actually coming because this forum needs some better functions for some parts on the forum to work properly.

I will keep you guys updated as I get more info.

They nearly ruined on of the few times during the week I can come onto the forum.

well actually i was misled with information

the server was completely shut off after some a$$hat used their account on the server to send out 1000s of spam emails and that caused an overload because you can't expect any server to send out 10k emails in 1 second, you have to space it out

so the http portion crashed

The Forum will experience downtime Tuesday at 2 AM for the apache upgrade. It was started but because of the idiot it was all ruined and it was not completed. It will be finished at around 2 AM when no one is hopefully awake :-) unless you live across the globe that is.

well guys the server has been upgraded to the latest version of apache and php - the server is much faster for me as it should be for everyone

the guy who crashed the server was suspended and then banned from the entire server

hopefully this stuff does not happen again or at least happen any time soon
