Hi folks, im doing my dissertation about psychology in computer games and I am conducting a survey for my research. I would be very grateful if anyone could answer these 2 simple questions and the poll.

1)Why do you think people enjoy violence in games?

2)Do you think you ever been influenced by a computer game, if so how?

Thanks

1)Why do you think people enjoy violence in games?
It's not that they necessarily enjoy the violence in games, but violent games are enjoyable. It's a mixture of the plot, missions, and excitement that make it fun. It's also something that people don't plan to do in their life, it's kind of like a fantasy thing.

2)Do you think you ever been influenced by a computer game, if so how?
No, I haven't. Games are just games.

1)Why do you think people enjoy violence in games?
I don't think it is the violence in games that make those games more fun then other games. I think the violent ones are just better because they have missions, objectives, strategy, need-to-think moments, and have more action then games such as Brain Age, Animal Crossing, and Nintendogs.

2)Do you think you ever been influenced by a computer game, if so how?
I have NEVER been influenced by a game. I don't see how you could. Games just bring out a kids imagination and let him do what he wants, rather then being told what to do.

1. People think it's fun to go out with guns and rage in all-out war killing their friends for one reason, IT'S NOT REAL
2. No, never.

1)Why do you think people enjoy violence in games?
I enjoy violence in video games because it's just something fun and new. It's realistic without being real. Humans are naturally violent. How do you think we ate meat for all those prehistoric years? It's kind of like an outlet for all that, without having to do any violent acts (not that you really want to do anything violent in the first place). Plus a lot of violent games have lovely plots and story lines, oh and the main characters. They're appealing to people I think, well, they're appealing to me anyways.

The only thing a game has inspired me to do, is make my barbies battle my dinosaurs in an epic adventure on a small blanket-made island, where the barbies had to save the captured transformers from the evil t-rex emperor (I was a tomboy girl, if you will). I do not go out stealing cars and beating old people for money. I don't aspire to join the army in hopes that I can kick some enemy ass with high powered weapons. A computer game is what it is, a game, a release. It's the same thing as reading a book, you get into it and are taken away in a part of your imagination and freedom from the problems and trivial tasks of the real world, if even for a few minutes.
