Is it better getting 20,000 gamescore (achievements) or playing the game at a pace you like without bothering.

Achievements- show to your friends and the world of your dominance in games

No Achievement- play a game at your pace at the same time enjoying it

Vote and give your honest opinions on the matter ;-)

Achievements are nice but really just a huge ploy to get the consumer to buy/rent more games.

I like getting achievements to games because it adds on to your gamer score. Plus its fun trying to get them. Because on tons of games like halo 3 you can get tons of achievements.

I like achievements, it makes me do things in games that I wouldn't normally do. For example, GTA 4 there is achievement to do a wheelie for 500ft. It's little things like that, that make the game more thrilling.

I see your point and agree but you wouldn't try for a long wheelie if the achievements were not there?

totally agree with that but if either one of us were in their shoes, we'd do the same and do what it takes to keep those guys coming back

Yeah I like achievements. It gives me a reason to play games 2 or more times.

i always play the games at my own pace. If i try to get all the achievements then the game seems to get more boring. i remember going for 1000/1000 on Fight Night Round 3, i managed to do it but i wore out the gripping bits on my thumbstick

I usually play the game at my own pace, then go back and try to get the achievements.
It's a fun accomplishment, but I don't really do it for any other purpose.

I picked yes on the pole but it depends on the game for me. Most games I just play through to experience the game and don't worry about hunting down achievements but the games I really enjoy I will go back and try to complete most of them that I can. An example of this is Assassin's Creed 2, I am working on getting all the feathers and just need like 2 more past that to be at 100%.

I voted yes too. I like achievements in games, especially ones that require some skill or ability to achieve. One of the games I recently enjoyed working on was in Anno 1404 where only the crappy support let me down from completing a full house.

The only thing that I can think of that bugs me about them is when they award things like titles or other effectively useless stuff. Unlocking new stuff in a game is kinda cool, but it really needs to be something that makes it worth working for.
