These were on display at Comic-Con with the new red and black controller. The red is cast into the plastic. It's not just an applied image like the other consoles that were displayed (DC, Watchmen, B:TDK, Terminator). The other consoles also had no artwork on the faceplates except for the B:TDK console.
I think there's a good chance that there will be a Gears of War 2 console out this year to replace the Halo 3 console from last year.
Red cast plastic console case means it was put through a production process and not printed or painted like the Simpson's console, for example. Matching controller that also went through a production process and not painted backs it up.
